Lava Ritual
Directed by Rike Scheffler, co-directed by Arna BethLava is a visual collaboration for poet Rike Scheffler, exploring speculative futures through ritual, language, and transmission. Drawing on the logic of the children’s game telephone, the work considers how myths, cultural memory, and forms of knowledge shift as they pass between bodies, species, and temporalities.
Developed with sound artist CROOK and photographer Gunnlöð Jóna, the project constructs an immersive digital environment situated within a queer speculative landscape. Visuals were created in Unreal Engine, forming a sensorial space where language, sound, and image intersect as vessels for transformation, inheritance, and alternative ways of being.
